You know how sometimes you just have to rant about stupid crap? Well this morning things just got on my nerves, and I need to rant. What is the problem with people that (1) have to drive 40 and 45 miles an hour on a road marked at 55, (2) don't understand that when it's raining, the law says, TURN ON YOUR DAMN HEADLIGHTS so we can see your sorry ass, (3) the ones that wait until you get about 5 car lengths away coming down the highway and then they pull out in front of you from a driveway causing you to hit your brakes to keep from slamming into them because they are only doing 10 miles an hour.
It makes you just want to slap the crap out of them and disable their vehicles so they can't annoy the rest of us. I guess there's also the old people that drive slow as Moses ALL of the time, day, night, Sunday.
I know, I know, but seriously, it's been so busy I haven't had time to get my paying job caught up, let alone work on personal stuff. I was ready to hang an out of order sign up or something, but then I read a couple of lines from 7even and began to get depressed. I know how to contact her, but it's not the same. Who am I supposed to share all of my new found U2 tunes with, or my sick, twisted sense of humor, or just my thoughts on college life in general? Yes I have someone, but the relationship isn't to the point that it was/is with Seven. I do wish her the best in her new position, but I already miss her and the silliness she generates. Highlander knows what he's getting, and I wish them both happiness. Geeks through and through, the both of them. Just remember to keep the e-mails hot between here and Crowder. OK, I guess it's time to get back to the salt mine. This is going to be a long summer, and I'm still trying to figure out how to fit in some vacation time.
Well, it was brought to my attention that I hadn't written anything in a while. Guess I've just been busy, but I do have a few thoughts running through my head at the moment.... Gas prices just hit $4.00 a gallon yesterday here. It really pisses me off that no one seems to want to do anything about it, all the government wants to do is hold hearings and waste more money and time. I watched a video the other day where this guy talks about how to solve the gas issue really easily. Step one: use the "reserves" our government has stored, which would put gas in every vehicle for about 3 weeks. Step two: Since we love to spend money in foreign countries helping people become "independent" then why not make them pay for our help. Iraq has allot of oil which we buy from them, tell them we are going to be their only buyer and at a reduced price until the money levels out. That should last about 30 years. During this time, we work hard on alternatives, like hydrogen. By the time we need to figure out something else, we'll have electric and hydrogen cars all over the place and the price of oil will be negligible.
Second topic - these phone commercials for "meeting singles." I'm getting a little tired of these, especially since they are all just rip-offs anyway. I even saw one the other night for a gay chat line, men calling men to "hook up" as they put it. I have no problems with gays or lesbians, so don't start down that road, I just think there are more appropriate channels out there than to advertise on TV where anyone can see it, especially children.
OK, I'm off my soapbox, I know today is Friday the ............ and all that junk, but I don't buy into it, so everyone "have a nice day, and get the hell out." :-)
Well, there is a saying about "all hell breaking loose." I guess that's partially what happened yesterday. I won't go into details, but suffice it to say, there are parts of the web which are very mean spirited. I have no problem with people making a living on it, but the spirit of the thing was to share information. Not hold information hostage. Eventually the world will be totally web based and the governments of various countries are trying their best to control it and understand it. They should have been in on the ground floor, back in the early 90's when it all started coming online. Everything was simple, hand coded pages with just information. There wasn't the money grubbing sinister side to it yet, and life was good. Skip ahead 10 years and big brother wants to be able to tell you what you can and can't do online, plus spy on you, and big companies are the same way. I wonder what they're going to do when they loose control of it. I'm sure the hackers are working on the D-Day type of take-over. It's just a matter of time.
Let my internet go!
Well, it's been a while, but
things are slowing down some now (right before the big summer rush
to get everything done). Seven came and got her camera, which is
fine, because our new one just came in yesterday and I'm going to
spend the weekend playing with it to see how well it works. I
shot a few pictures this morning as a test and they turned out
pretty well.
The Hayseed Dixie show was fun. I think there were about half again as many people at it this year than last. Everyone seemed to have a good time. One of my sons managed to get his picture taken with the band.
Seven said she was going to change the layout of this site for me, but has she done it yet???? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Guess she's too busy with the camera. :-)
At least we have a three day weekend. The forecast is calling for rain for the next 5 days (chance of anyway). Maybe it will cool things off some and let me unwind.
The more technology I play with, the more it amazes me how anything can get done without it. I've been busy this week, working on software installations, and web pages for assorted courses, workshops, and the like at the college and it's just worn me down. I was never so happy for Friday to come around this week. It was bad enough that I woke up a couple of mornings still thinking of what needed to be done. Then to top it all off, I go and visit Seven to look at her computer (we reformatted it earlier in the week), and she's all happy, and laughing and crap. I made the mistake of guessing why she was so up, asking her if she was going to see Highlander this weekend. That did it, she spewed candy sweetness from all of her pores for about 10 minutes. It was enough to put you in a diabetic coma. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for her, very happy, but when I'm just trying to make it through the last day of the week, I don't need someone being all up and chipper. The good news is that I might actually get some alone time with the wife this weekend, and next weekend Hayseed Dixie will be playing in town. Now that's enough to get me through next week and then some. If you haven't experienced Hayseed Dixie, I can't explain it, you just have to find some place they're playing. Ok, that's it ....... for now.
Man has it been busy. It's the end of the semester and things are going 90 miles an hour. I don't know when I'll be able to get back and post again, it could be a week or so, hopefully not. But in the meantime, I just want to say one thing...... to all my "friends", no I do not want to see my ass naked, I do not need any Viagra, I don't want a $500.00 gift card from wherever, and I don't need Cialis. Oh, and I obviously do not need a great deal on Microsoft Office! Don't you just love junk e-mail. Rrrrrrrrrrr!
I woke up this morning and the stupid colder weather from Arkansas has made it's way down here. It's supposed to warm up today quite nicely, but for the moment it's a bit chilly. Hopefully today will be very uneventful. I hit submit on my stupid taxes this morning, I'm getting really tired of the IRS always figuring out a way to screw the little guy while giving all the people with tons of money the big breaks. The separation of the classes is getting worse all the time, and if no one else will say it, I will. DEPRESSION! There, now let them try and deny it. How long do they think we will buy the "recession" BS? Anyway, I guess it's time for me to do something productive, like sit around and lounge all day. :-)
Well, the ape has journeyed
to Louisiana. It's been 2 days and the locals seem hospitable
enough, although I'm not much of one for crawfish. I've tried them
on occasion, but never seemed to get a taste for them. I'm starting
to unwind, hopefully I will become completely relaxed in the next
couple of days. I am having fun with my daughter and
grand-daughter. My wife is actually talking about coming back with
me. The culture shock for both of us will be a bit of adjustment,
she's been down here for six weeks. The best thing about being down
here is there's sun, and NO RAIN. I've been wearing shorts most of
the time and lounging like a lizard.
Well, that's all I have to write about today, hopefully things will
be this uneventful all during my trip.
It's my birthday, ha ha ha.
